There are parts of Out Of The Silent Planet that remain deeply mysterious in the way that real art can be – within it there is a strange and often ethereal beauty, trapped between the three-part harmonies and Ty Tabor’s spacey, sonic guitar playing. The band had been in a steep decline before the decision was made to fire Ozzy in 1979. One long, etiolated sigh, it wafted between limpid balladry and a sort of slow-motion disco. It features some of the fastest and more inventive guitar riffs you will ever hear.
